Homemade Bun
Preparation time 1 hour | For 6 buns
People generally prefer to use ready made buns for making burgers but homemade buns not only save your money but also save your health as they are hygienically prepared at home. You can also use bun machine or a pan for baking it and enjoy healthy food at home.


500 gm all purpose flour
2 1/4 tbsp yeast
25 gm unsalted butter (softened)
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
1 egg
Water as required

1. Pre-heat oven at 180 degree centigrade.
2. In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together, then add softened butter to the dry mixture and mix it using the soft hands.
3. Beat egg in a separate bowl just to mix egg yolk and egg white and then add it to the flour mixture. Roughly mix this beated egg in the mixture.
4. Now gradually add water in little quantity to the mixture to knead the dough, don’t try to add more quantity of water while kneading otherwise your bun would become hard. The dough would be soft at first, to make it smooth you have to knead it more just like you do for pizza dough. The best way is to sprinkle flour on the board and using your palm press the dough and roll do it for 5-8 times
5. Grease the Dough with oil and put it in the deep bowl, cover and leave for 10 minutes.
6. Now make small pieces of dough, the easiest way is to use a deep cutter or mold of circular shape. Put cutter onto the baking tray and insert small piece of dough into the cutter, make its top surface of even circular shape and then remove the cutter carefully so that the shape of dough may not be disturbed and it remains on its position. You may also use bun or burger press for this purpose.
7. In the end, coat some beated egg on the top of each bun to give it golden brown color.
8. Place the baking tray in the pre-heated oven at 220 degree centigrade for 10-12 minutes. At first, turn on the lower burner of oven and when bun becomes light brown from top, turn on the upper stove and change the temperature to 250 degree centigrade. After 5-8 mins take out them from the oven and let them cool.


Use these soft buns in making burgers like zinger burger, fish burger, etc.
