Chickpeas Recipe
Preparation time : 30 mins | Serves 6 persons

This is typical Pakistani chickpea recipe and is one of the main items in traditional hi-tea party. It is preferred to cook it in pressure cooker to reduce cooking time otherwise it would take hours to cook on slow cooker.

Ingredients:

1 cup chickpea or garbanzo beans (soaked in water for overnight)
1 medium size onion (cut into large pieces)
1 medium size tomato (cut into large pieces)
1 tbspn red chili powder
1 tbspn cumin powder
1 tspn black pepper powder
Salt to taste

Procedure:

1. In a blender, blend onion and tomato with very little water to make smooth paste.
2. Take a pressure cooker of best quality which cooks your food in quick time and for that I always prefer to use presto pressure cooker. Put chickpea, onion tomato paste, salt, red chili and 4 cup water or enough to cover all the chickpea. Cook them together in pressure cooker for 15 mins until chickpeas become tender and soft.
3. After that add cumin and black pepper powder and cook on high heat to dry all the extra water.

Serving:

Serve the hot spicy chickpea with dahi vada and sprinkle some chaat masala on top.
