Gajar ka Halwa (Sweet Carrot Delight)


Gajar ka halwaPreparation time : 60 mins | Serves 6 persons

Gajar ka halwa is the most famous sweet of south asian cuisine, to get the best taste always try to use fresh carrots. Khoya is the main ingredient of this halwa and its taste would become increase if half quantity of khoya is used in cooking and rest of it as topping.

Ingredients:

2 kg fresh carrots (grated)
500 gm sugar
2 cup ghee
500 gm milk
500 gm khoya


Procedure:

1. Put grated carrots and milk in a deep sauce pan, cook them together on medium heat for 20-30 mins until carrots become soft and starts to dry.
2. Now add sugar, ghee and half quantity of khoya in the carrots and stir continuously so that sugar and khoya would completely mix into the carrots.
3. When ghee starts to separate from the carrots and becomes dry then take it out in a serving platter and garnish it with rest of khoya and almonds and pistachio.
