Sugar cookies

Preparation time : 25 mins. | Serves 3 dozen

These sour cream cookies are more or less similar to sugar cookies. In this recipe of cookies instead of using whole egg only egg yolks are used and use of vanilla icing at top make these cookies delicious and excellent flavor, you may add food color or chocolate in the icing to make colorful cookies.


8 oz butter
1 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
2 oz sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
300 gm flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt

For Icing:

3 tbsp margarine (melted)
2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp milk


1. Cream butter in a mixing bowl.
2. Add sugar and beat again, it is better to make powdered sugar so that the texture of batter would become creamy.
3. Now add egg yolks and sour cream and beat for 2 mins more.
4. Mix dry ingredients together including flour, soda and salt.
5. Fold this dry mixture with the batter using wooden spoon, add vanilla extract and make soft smooth dough.
6. Take a greased cookie sheet and make small round cookies keeping 2 inch distance between each of them.
7. Place the tray in preheated oven for 12 mins at 350 degrees F.
8. Mean while prepare icing for the cookies, for that you just need to mix all the above ingredients of icing and just warm for 2-3 mins at medium heat, the syrup will become thick paste.
9. When the cookies become ready and cool to room temperature then drop 1 tbsp of prepared icing on top and stand for 15 mins to set.
