Green RicePreparation time : 20 min. | Serves 2 persons

This recipe for green rice is prepared with fresh green garlic stalks, green chilies and green onion. The rice tastes something different from typical garlic rice and i usually served with any curry or specially with chicken jalfrezi.


¼ cup oil
2-3 garlic stalks (separate green parts and finely chopped both)
1 cup of long grain rice (soaked in water for 30 mins)
3-4 green chilies (chopped)
2 cup of chicken broth
Salt and white pepper to taste
2 stalks green onions (finely chopped)


1. Heat oil in a deep pan, saute white part of garlic stalk for just a min. but don’t turn them into brown.
2. Then add green chilies, salt and pepper and stir well for a min.
3. Now add rice, green onions and green garlic and mix them well.
4. Add chicken broth and cook over high heat till broth starts to absorb in rice and rice come onto the surface then turn the flame to very low and simmer for 0-15 min until rice cooked well. (note: when you add broth it should be 1” above the rice level if not then add some water)
