Homemade MustardPreparation time : 10 mins. | Serves about 1 cup

This is an easy recipe for Homemade Mustard paste which you usually buy from store. It is very simple and easy to prepare at home and also very economical. All the ingredients used in the recipe are always in your kitchen. Try this recipe and make delicious sandwiches, burger and patties with this Homemade Mustard.


2 tbsp oil
½ tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp mustard powder
2 tbsp wheat flour
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp salt
Pinch of black pepper
1 tbsp brown sugar
½ cup water
3 tbsp white vinegar
¼ tsp citric acid (for preservation)


1. In a medium pan, heat oil and add wheat flour and stir until pleasant smell starts to come. It take 1-2 mins.
2. Now add mustard powder, garlic powder, turmeric, salt, black pepper, brown sugar and water and mix them well. If you feel that sauce is too thick then add little amount of water. Cook it for 2-3 mins. until well blended and thick just like the mustard paste texture.
3. Add vinegar and mix it well in the paste. Then turn off the heat, add citric acid to the mixture and stir it well, it is used not only for preservation but it also enhanced the flavor. Let the mustard paste cool to room temperature and then pour it into the sterilized container. Refrigerate to use it for weeks.
