Scalloped Potatoes Recipe is one of a kind of widespread potato casserole recipe. This recipe can be altered in variety of ways and you can also make potato gratin with this recipe by adding grated cheese or bread crumbs at the top.


3 large potatoes (cut into thick slices)
3 cup milk
4 tbsp cream
3 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
1 bay leaf
Pinch of ground nutmeg
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
2 tbsp butter (softened)


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. In a saucepan cook together potato slices, milk, nutmeg, bay leaf, salt and pepper and let the mixture to boil. After that reduce the heat to simmer and cook for just 8-10 mins. more till potatoes are half done and milk gets little thick.
3. Now grease the casserole dish using butter. Spread finely chopped garlic at the base, then take out the potato slices from the milk mixture and place them over the garlic. When the milk mixture gets cool to room temperature, add cream in it and mix well. Then pour this milk mixture onto the potatoes, and bake in preheated oven for 30-40 mins. or until the top is golden and all of the milk is absorbed.
4. Serve the hot scalloped potatoes with garlic bread or as it is.
